ABOUT our program:
The Learning Tree is one of the most well-established preschools in Seattle to offer full-day Montessori education, 8am-5pm. The school year ‘begins’ in September and goes through the middle of August, with new students joining us every fall. Children are encouraged to attend all year long to take advantage of our inclusive, dynamic program.
We recommend that you learn about Montessori philosophy before applying to our school, so you can get an understanding of what we are hoping to achieve during our partnership. We ask that families make at least a two-year commitment to The Learning Tree so you can reap the benefits of the multi-age grouping and years-long curriculum we guide children through.
Age range:
Students must be at least 2 years and 6 months of age (30 months old) in the month that they begin school with us. We will give preference to children who are toilet trained, and we can talk with you more about that when you contact us. Our DCYF childcare license allows us to serve children ages 2 & ½ through 6 years old. Both the Dogwood and Juniper classrooms are mixed age. We typically do not enroll students older than 4 years of age.
Tours:
We are no longer scheduling tours for the 2026-27 school year. Our tours start at 8:55am, and are for adults only. You can plan on spending 45 minutes with us and seeing the entire school and outdoor play area. Coming on a tour is highly recommended–it helps us get to know you and you us, which aids greatly in seeing if we are all a good fit for one another. Call or email to schedule. Please include your phone number if you leave us a message, and we’ll call you!

Applications may also be downloaded from our website and emailed to: info@learningtreemontessori.com.
Application Fee:
Please include an application fee of $50, mail it to us at 1721 15th Ave Seattle, WA 98122. We accept cash or check at this time. Your application fee is waived if you are also applying for financial aid, or qualify for City or State subsidy programs.
Financial Aid/Subsidies:
The Learning Tree is able to accept tuition subsidies from both the City of Seattle and the State of Washington. We also have our own scholarship fund that families may seek assistance from. We encourage families to apply for financial aid who need it. Before applying for The Learning Tree’s scholarship program we ask families to first find out if they are eligible for either The City of Seattle Childcare Subsidy Program by calling (206) 386-1050, or visiting CCAP’s website. The other subsidy is through Washington state’s Department of Social and Health Services office (WCCC website). Families requesting financial aid through The Learning Tree scholarship fund must first explore if they are eligible for city or state assistance.
All requests for aid from The Learning Tree’s scholarship fund must be accompanied by a copy of the previous year’s Internal Revenue Service 1040 form that was filed, and all related schedules. Please submit these documents with your application. If you have questions about these programs, please reach out, we are happy to help.
